You need a Yoga Mat

You need a Yoga Mat

Hey guys, if you are new thanks for checking this out, my name is Joe. If you are returning, thank you so much for giving my humble sports and fitness blog a chance. Now, onto the meat of why I am here today. I started doing a bunch of yoga and pilates at home and found out that my garden tiled floor is extremely uncomfortable. Like cut on my lower back uncomfortable. So I tried with a couple different things at the house to use as mat including towels, pillows, clothes, and even pieces of my bed but nothing worked. I finally broke and bought a yoga mat from a shop in town, $30 but it seems worth it. I have not had any pain in my lower back from laying down, and have been able to hold some poses quite a bit longer because of it.

The main reason I have found that yoga mats are so much better than other options for laying on seems to be thier compression. Even other sports/fitness mats like those used in gymnastics don’t compress the same way. A yoga mat compresses under pressure, but still as it is so thin already there is no lumpiness like you get with pillows or cushions. Of course, most yoga mats have other features such as spill proof and non stick so you don’t have to worry about getting water or sweat on your fancy mat. And almost all yoga mats roll up into a tight package, meaning you can carry it with you easily. If you have not gotten a yoga mat for your exercise, ask for one for this Christmas. You will thank me.
